Dustin

Project Manager & Designer

An experienced and accomplished writer, Dustin has always enjoyed enhancing visual mediums with descriptive and artistic writing. He supplements a natural ability to create unique type by taking the necessary time to absorb the whole context of his work, a quality that continues to enable him to write quality material for any audience.

His passion for writing began at an early age when he was enrolled in advanced course studies in elementary school. As part of a select and small group, he studied world cultures, history, and language development, including intermediate studies in French. His advanced coursework continued through high school where he routinely was called upon to edit written material from not only his peers, but of his instructors, as well. His dedication and passion for creative writing garnered him multiple scholarships to Washington State University, where he pursued degrees in Honors English – Creative Writing and Honors Fine Arts – Photography. By the end of his freshman year, his writing was featured in multiple collegiate publications.

In addition to employing a passion for writing, Dustin has been an avid photographer for a number of years. His grandfather—a professional photographer—bought him his first professional camera for his fifteenth birthday. By the following birthday, his artwork was being featured in magazines and publications documenting the unique and captivating beauty of his lifelong home, the Pacific Northwest. He continued to hone and refine his capabilities behind the camera and, within two years, was competing nationally in various contests and was awarded grants to pursue a BFA designation. He audited out of a number of classes upon enrollment and, in his freshman year, was studying alongside juniors and seniors. Here, he enjoyed extensive time in the processing lab where he received one-on-one tutoring with a selected graduate student. His work was delivered to and critiqued, often with praise, by the dean of the photography department. Dustin has trained with and studied under a number of renowned photographers and continues to be dedicated to growing in his art.

His personal philosophy is that each experience is unique and deserves to be documented visually, through written word, or both! This philosophy is an incredible asset to us at 253 Design and we are glad to have him on our team!
